Now wouldn't that be great? I think a MacArthur Foundation genius grant would be an acceptable recompense for all the whining we do, here and in other quarters. But, really whining sounds so unpleasant—we would have had to call it Finge Whinging.

Or perhaps a Whine Tasting party would be a good perk-up.

Tell me, sir, how is your cabernet?
It's a caber-not, the worst yet today.

Tell me, miss, how's your pinot noir?
Just a common black red, ce soir.

And ma'am, the tang of your pouilly fusse?
Pbbt-really fussy, that's what I say.

Okay, S & K scamper off on vacation, leaving me to whine on my own. Pffft; obviously I have been unable to step up to the plate.

Of the whines on last week's topic (Mardi Gras), we've picked our whiner:

Why don't they televise the Mardi Gras parade? I mean, after all. The networks do get to see the Rose Parade, and the Thanksgiving Day parade. Why not Mardi Gras? Tsk.

Yeah, what she said. Sure, there was a lot of coverage of Mardi Gras in general, and frequent shots of revelers on and off floats, but why not pick a parade and cover it from start to finish? Hm?

Winning whine on last week's topic -- the weather:

Anonymous (but weeee know who it is) said...
Three reasons that weather sucks:
(1) too even-handed, what's with this falling on the just and the unjust thing; give me a break, I mean literally give me a break.
(2) too undemocratic, should something this important get to happen with no polical oversight?
(3) too cold, my body runs just shy of 100F weather is almost always far enough below that I've got work to maintain my internal temp; bah.
